Job summary

RJI Search is seeking an experienced automotive technician to perform hands-on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our clients' EV/AV vehicle fleet. You will work closely with the Shop Foreman and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, coordinate repairs, and support vehicle testing operations.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, a clean driving record, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on automotive technician experience in maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
• Experience ideally within dealership or OEM environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with deep knowledge of vehicle systems, tools, parts and repair techniques.
• Very comfortable with electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document service work clearly and accurately.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record and ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Able to obtain forklift/gantry certification post-hire (Cal/OSHA compliance).
• Client provides this certification.

Job description

We are seeking Auto Mechanics who have some experience with EV/AV Vehicles. Technicians will perform hands-on maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and fleet reworks for our clients fleet of vehicles. You will work closely with the Shop Foreman and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, coordinate repairs, diagnostics and repair electrical components, and support continuous vehicle improvement.

You’ll also help develop diagnostic test plans, maintain detailed service records, and keep the workshop organized, including tools and parts inventory. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where your work directly supports vehicle testing operations.

We’re looking for someone with automotive technician experience, strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, and a clean driving record who can manage multiple priorities in a hands-on shop setting.

Nice-to-have experience includes automotive R&D or lab environments, CAN systems, wiring diagrams, soldering, and trailer towing experience, along with relevant technical training or certifications.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass MVR, background check, and drug screening
• Able to obtain forklift/gantry certification post-hire (Cal/OSHA compliance)
• Client provides this certification

Nice to have:

• Experience in automotive R&D or engineering lab environments (dyno, battery testing, etc.)
• Familiarity with CAN systems, wiring diagrams, and soldering
• Technical trade school certification or associate degree in automotive repair
• High voltage battery experience or certification
