Job summary

MSX International is seeking a Technical Training Instructor to train dealership apprentices in diagnostic strategies and proper vehicle repair at the Ridgeville Regional Training Center. The role emphasizes hands-on workshops, competency assessments, and collaboration with corporate and regional teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive automotive repair and diagnostic experience, plus multiple years of training OEM dealership technicians.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in automotive repair and diagnostics.
  • 3+ years training OEM dealership technicians.
  • EV technology knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to read and explain mechanical drawings/electrical schematics.
  • Experience preparing classrooms and vehicles for learning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate workshops for dealership apprentice technicians to obtain OEM certification.
  • Prepare workshops and vehicles for experiential learning.
  • Verify learners' understanding via competency-based assessments.
  • Maintain training center, tools, literature, and records.
  • Collaborate with Corporate, Regional, and Dealership teams to meet goals.
  • Ensure health and safety, 5S, and shop cleanliness.
  • Travel to Ridgeville Training Center; maintain valid driver's license.

Job description

Are you passionate about helping aspiring automotive technicians learn and get started in their career? We are seeking a qualified Technical Training Instructor to support a premium Automotive OEM at the OEM training facility. The primary purpose of this role is the training of dealership apprentice technicians in the diagnostic strategies and proper repair of vehicle systems by facilitating service technical training classes at the Regional Training Center. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with enthusiasm for improving the diagnostic capabilities of technicians who are just beginning their career in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate training workshops for dealership apprentice technicians, with the goal of obtaining their initial OEM certification.
  • Prepare workshops and vehicles for experiential learning.
  • Verify learners' understanding of the subject matter using competency-based training.
  • Identify additional training needs based on learners' feedback and assessment of skills.
  • Ensure Regional Training Facility, tools, student guides, literature, vehicles, and training center are properly maintained.
  • Maintain attendee training records in learning portal.
  • Collaborate regularly with Corporate, Regional, and Dealership team members to accomplish Corporate, Regional, and training department goals.
  • Perform light to medium lifting requirements in repair shop operation management.
  • Assist Corporate Training staff in the development of technical training curriculum as required.
  • Continually enhance technical instructional facilitation skills, technical knowledge of vehicle systems, and diagnostic technology.
  • Comply with health and safety standards and maintain a safe work environment in the Training Center.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and follow published 5S standards.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers and supplier personnel.
  • Maintain and use equipment in the workshop to operational standard.
  • Take reasonable precautions to protect company vehicles.

Required Skills
  • 6 or more years of work experience in automotive technical repair and diagnostics.
  • 3 or more years of work experience training OEM dealership technicians.
  • Knowledge and experience with electric vehicle technology a plus.
  • Ability to read, interpret and explain mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience preparing classrooms, workshops, and vehicles for learning.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (OneDrive, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) a plus.
Travel Requirements
  • Will work out of the Ridgeville Training Center.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Education
  • Must be fluent in English (additional foreign languages a plus).
  • Tech School, Automotive Certificate, Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Preferred Professional Certification (OEM Master Technician or ASE Master technician).
