Job summary

UPS is seeking a Fleet Maintenance supervisor in Shreveport, LA. The role ensures a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient fleet of vehicles, overseeing preventive maintenance, audits, and cost control.

You will work with mechanics, vendors, and internal customers, identifying trends to reduce expenses and improve performance. Responsibilities include scheduling inspections, reviewing repairs, managing inventory, and upholding safety and regulatory standards.

  • Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair to vehicle fleet operation.
  • Ability to manage equipment repair and oversee correction of problems with tools and machinery.
  • Ability to manage inspections, physical assets, and working relationships with vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules preventative maintenance inspections and reviews results, monitors repairs, and conducts vehicle audits to ensure safety and standards.
  • Analyzes equipment failures to determine root causes and plans repairs with internal and external groups.
  • Ensures adequate inventory levels (e.g., parts, tires) to support processes.
  • Adheres to purchasing limits and expense procedures to stay within cost plan.
  • Reviews and approves automotive expenses.
  • Determines employee training needs to develop staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and addresses performance issues.

Job Description
Job Summary

This position maintains a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient fleet of vehicles, both ground support equipment and street vehicles. He/She ensures proper use and care of physical assets, helps prevent equipment failures, controls costs, manages external vendor relationships, works closely with auto mechanics and internal customers, and performs regular equipment and facility audits. This position monitors fleet vehicle equipment maintenance. He/She maintains automotive cost effectiveness by identifying trends, monitoring key expense indices, and identifying and implementing cost-saving strategies. This position supervises mechanics within the department.

Responsibilities
  • Schedules preventative maintenance inspections and reviews the results, monitors repairs, and performs vehicle audits to ensure mechanics adhere to safety, regulatory and appearance standards.
  • Analyzes equipment or vehicle system failures to determine root causes and resolve problems, and plans and coordinates equipment repairs with internal and external groups.
  • Ensures adequate inventory levels (e.g., parts, tires, etc.) to support business processes.
  • Adheres to purchasing limits, expense approval procedures, and equipment disposal guidelines to remain within cost plan.
  • Reviews and approves automotive expenses.
  • Determines employee training needs to produce continuous development plans.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and resolves individual and group performance issues.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair to vehicle or aircraft fleet operation
  • Ability to manage equipment repair and oversee the correction of problems with tools, machinery, and other standard technical equipment
  • Ability to manage inspections, physical assets, and working relationships with vendors
Requirements
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday but flexible based on business needs
  • Must be able to work either 1st or 2nd shift- the position supports different divisions in Automotive to include Ground Support Equipment
  • Must reside within the geographical location of the role or willing to relocate - relocation assistance not offered
  • Must be able to meet with airport screening clearance
