Job summary

The City of Rocklin is seeking an Automotive Shop Assistant (Public Services Specialist) to support mechanics in the City’s automotive shop. You will assist with repairs, cleaning, and operating City vehicles, while stocking supplies and performing basic tasks to aid repair operations.

This is a temporary, part-time, at-will position with no benefits beyond legal requirements; duration up to six months, not exceeding 28 hours per week, depending on needs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic auto shop operations and safety practices.
• Ability to learn fleet maintenance tasks and basic repairs.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics and keep the shop clean and organized.
• Operate City vehicles to pick up parts and deliver fleets.
• Refill and refuel fleet vehicles and maintain work area safety.
• Follow instructions and work independently as required.
• Support with basic tools and equipment handling as needed.
