COMPENSATION

Annual Pay Range: $59,671.77 - $68,414.28

Hourly Pay Range: $28.688353 - $32.891481

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and team-oriented individual to join our team as an Automotive Service Technician within the Department of Transportation & Development (DTD)/Fleet Services. If selected for this position, you will be responsible for performing manual, semi-skilled work in the servicing and maintenance of County owned automotive equipment, such as automobiles, trucks, tractors and other road construction equipment. In this role, the main focus is on performing routine servicing duties involving fuel, oil, grease, water and air, minor maintenance repairs and general tire servicing.

The Fleet Services Division manages the specification, deployment, maintenance and repair of County motor vehicles including Sheriff patrol cars, pickups, vans and other light and medium duty vehicles. Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position, including experience in all of the following:
    • Safely operating automotive servicing equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic tools, such as jacks, lifts, wrenches, grease guns, cleaning materials and tire tools
    • Performing vehicle servicing according to standard automotive shop procedures and practices
    • Changing or adding vehicle fluids and lubricating parts
    • Changing and inflating tires
    • Identifying potentially dangerous and damaging automotive conditions

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Experience as an auto-mechanic or other relevant vehicle or equipment repair work
  • Completion of a relevant auto-repair coursework
  • Experience mounting/dismounting, repairing, and balancing tires

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug test
  • Must pass a post-offer physical assessment; accommodation requests will be reviewed on an individual basis in compliance with State and Federal legislation
  • Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is included in the County’s alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). This is a swing shift position with established work hours of 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

Please Note:

  • This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on‑site work location.
  • Automotive Service Technician employees are considered "essential" employees and are required to report to work to support critical County operations in the event of an emergency, disaster or adverse weather conditions.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Positions require frequent walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, grasping, fine motor control, and the ability to lift up to 90 pounds, carry up to 40 pounds, and push/pull 80 pounds. Duties also involve exposure to fumes, solvents, chemicals, heat, and noise.
