Job summary

AutoNation is seeking a Non-Certified Technician to inspect and service vehicles as they arrive at the dealership, performing minor repairs to place them in saleable condition. A high school diploma, 6–12 months of experience, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6–12 months of prior work experience.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• General mechanical skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
• Ability to operate power and hand tools safely.
• Ability to operate an automobile.

Responsibilities

• Sign an acceptance for each vehicle delivered.
• Inspect vehicles for safety compliance and defects.
• Inspect surfaces for chips and scratches in paint.
• Start engine and test steering, brakes, transmission and engine operation.
• Operate power equipment to check performance.
• Replace defective items using hand tools.
• Install optional equipment per customer/dealer specifications.
• Install or repair major mechanical/electromechanical equipment using hand tools.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
• Tune engines using appropriate test equipment.
