Job summary

AAA Auto Tech Inc in Boston seeks an experienced Automotive Shop Foreman / Service Manager to own daily shop operations and drive service excellence. You will oversee technicians, review diagnoses, and guide customers through repair options while maintaining strong profitability and customer satisfaction.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in auto repair, leadership experience in independent shops, and expertise in diagnostics, electrical systems, and OBD-II procedures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience.
• Experience as Shop Foreman / Service Manager or similar leadership role.
• Independent automotive repair shop experience strongly preferred.
• Strong hands-on diagnostic experience.
• Strong electrical diagnostic skills with wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with OBD-II and emissions procedures.
• Ability to diagnose vehicles rather than just replace parts.
• Ability to manage multiple technicians and repair orders simultaneously.
• Strong service sales and customer communication skills.
• Ability to explain repairs clearly to customers.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the repair facility and oversee daily shop operations.
• Manage workflow and dispatch repair orders to technicians based on skill level and workload.
• Supervise and provide technical direction to automotive technicians.
• Review diagnoses and verify repairs before presenting to customers.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, drivability, emissions, and check-engine-light concerns.
• Perform OBD-II/emissions diagnostics and related tests.
• Read wiring diagrams and use scan tools, DVOMs and diagnostic equipment.
• Prepare estimates, obtain customer authorization, and sell repairs.
• Answer calls, schedule work, provide updates and perform follow-up calls.
• Monitor technician productivity, repair quality, and overall workflow.
