Job summary

Motor Werks | A Member of Murgado Automotive Group in Barrington, IL, seeks an experienced Service Manager to lead our automotive service operation. You will develop teams, improve performance, elevate customer satisfaction, and drive results through change.

You will oversee scheduling, staffing, workflow, and customer communication; monitor KPIs and financial performance; and partner with Parts, Sales, and leadership to deliver a seamless customer experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Automotive Service Manager or senior service leader in a dealership.
• Track record of improving performance and developing staff.
• Experience in a high-volume dealership service department.
• Strong understanding of repair processes, workflow, parts coordination, and customer service.
• Ability to lead through change while maintaining accountability and morale.
• Ability to manage service department financials and KPIs.
• High school diploma or equivalent; related degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; clean driving record preferred for customer vehicles.
• Experience with dealership management systems; Tekion a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Parts, Sales, the General Manager, and dealership leadership to deliver a seamless customer experience and achieve store objectives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as an Automotive Service Manager or senior service leader in a dealership environment.
• Track record of improving performance, developing employees, and delivering measurable results.
• High-volume dealership service department experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of dealership service operations, repair processes, workflow, technician productivity, parts coordination, and customer service.
• Ability to lead through change while maintaining accountability, morale, productivity, and professionalism.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to manage service department financials and KPIs.
• Customer-first mindset with excellent leadership, communication, coaching, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on, visible leadership style with the ability to earn team respect and commitment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; related degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; clean driving record preferred if regular operation of customer vehicles is required.
• Experience with dealership management systems and automotive repair software; Tekion experience is a plus.
