Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Calculate the customer’s bill using the dealership’s computer system.
• Receive cash, checks, and credit card payments and record on the repair order.
• Make change accurately and issue receipts; have repair orders signed at payment.
• Record totals of tickets and verify against payments at shift end.
• Direct customers to the service advisor for questions about repairs.
• Handle customer complaints with integrity and refer as needed.
• Maintain file organization and scanning of documents.
• Answer inbound calls and route to the proper department.
• Check Rental vehicles in/out using Dealerware.
• Stock new vehicles into inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned; follow safety policies.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Service Cashier is primarily responsible for receiving cash from customers and employees in payment for goods and services and records the amount received in an accurate manner. This person is sometimes the customer’s last contact with the dealership and therefore must represent the dealership in a friendly, professional manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of customer service experience (automotive dealership preferred)
• Basic skills with computer and other office machines
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational ability

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Calculate the customer’s bill using the dealership’s computer system.
• Receive cash, checks and credit card payments from customers and record the amount received on the repair order and/or counter ticket.
• Make change accurately and issue receipts to customers. Have every repair order signed by the customer at the time of payment.
• Ascertain and record totals of counter tickets and repair orders and verify against all cash, checks and credit card payments on hand at end of shift.
• Refer customers who have additional questions (e.g. questions about their repair order) to the service advisor or other appropriate individual.
• Handle customer complaints with integrity and poise and take or refer the complaining customer to the appropriate individual for further communication.
• Maintain parts and service scanning of files timely.
• Answer all inbound calls and direct them to appropriate department or team member
• Check Rental vehicles in and out for customers using Dealerware software system
• Stock in new vehicles into inventory
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Must follow all company safety policies and procedures and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor.

• Ability to work well with customers and present a friendly, helpful attitude at all times.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment
• Good organizational skills, data entry skills
• Experience with CDK software a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORK ENVIRONMENTS

• Skill in operating office equipment such as a personal computer, copy and scanning machine and telephone system.
• Indoor work office environment with occasional need for walking onto service driveway.
• Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
