Job summary

Magna Seating is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, validate and release automotive seating fasteners. You will develop joints, validate torque and clamp loads, and maintain CAD drawings in CATIA/NX/PLM while supporting product launches.

You will liaise with suppliers and internal teams to ensure standards, drive continuous improvement, and lead root-cause analyses for field issues. A solid engineering background and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) or related degree.
• 3 years fastener engineering experience required, 5 years preferred.
• Experience using Atlas Copco torque drive/monitoring systems.
• Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings; CAD competency.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, DFSS Tools, Tolerance Analysis, Manufacturing Feasibility, Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and validate fasteners for automotive seating and joints.
• Perform joint analyses: thread engagement, clamp load, torque, breakaway torque.
• Maintain 3D CAD/2D drawings for fasteners in CATIA, NX and PLM systems.
• Support product launch through DFMEA, PFMEA, design reviews and program reviews.
• Assist manufacturing with fastening and assembly issue resolution.
• Coordinate with suppliers; ensure ISO/OEM standards compliance.
• Lead root cause investigations and pursue cost and weight reductions.
