Job summary

G.Z.Q.S.O. is seeking a Quality Technician at our Macomb/Warren locations to support on-the-floor quality activities under the supervision of the quality supervisor. You will use specialized tools to gauge parts, analyze process data, and maintain vital records.

Responsibilities include data collection, document control updates, vendor coordination for calibrations, and assisting in corrective actions. A high school diploma and MS Office proficiency are required, with ~5% local travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years experience in quality roles preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality standards, documentation and practices.

  • Collect, record, and disseminate data for quality functions (Layered Process Audits, Document Control, Gage R&R).
  • Update production floor documents with performance data and distribute revised documents.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for calibration and standards acquisition.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions; identify improvement opportunities.
  • Travel up to 5% locally; approx. 20-mile radius.

Quality Technician Location: 23 mile and Hayes, Macomb

Location: 10 Mile and Groesbeck, Warren Shift: 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Job Summary

The Quality Technician uses specialized tools, skillsets, software and other implements to carry out quality activities at the direction of the quality supervisor. Technical activities like gaging parts, analyzing process capability/statistical process control data and controlling documents, gages and other vital records are just a few examples of what falls within the purview of the quality technician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Collects, records, and disseminates data and information specific to quality functions such as Layered Process Audits, Document Control, Gage R&R and similar
  • Responsible for updating production floor documents with performance data and distributing revised documents to the appropriate work centres/areas
  • Coordinates with external vendors and suppliers for quality related activities such as calibration services, acquisition of certified standards, and other tasks as deemed necessary
  • Assists in root cause analysis, corrective/preventative action implementation and identifying general continuous improvement opportunities within the scope of their responsibilities
  • 5% Local travel; approximate 20-mile radius
  • Additional duties with similar responsibilities may be assigned as necessary

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years experience
  • higher level of self-motivation and practical competence in the areas and activities for which they are responsible
  • An intermediate understanding of quality standards, documentation and practices is also required
  • Depending on the duties assigned, familiarity with specialized software such as Access, Minitab, Gage Track, QAD and others may also be necessary
  • Reliable transportation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to read, write and speak English
