Job summary

Eftec North America L L C is seeking an experienced PVC Chemist to develop and optimize plastisol formulations for automotive underbody coatings, seam sealers, and sound deadeners. The role encompasses formulation, testing, scale-up, OEM approvals, and technical support for customers and production.

Responsibilities include selecting resins and additives, controlling viscosity, and ensuring gelation compatibility with OEM bake windows.

Qualifications

Candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with PVC plastisols, coatings, or adhesives is preferred.
Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Formulates and optimizes PVC plastisols for automotive coatings and sound deadeners.
Selects resins, plasticizers, fillers, stabilizers, and rheology modifiers.
Controls viscosity and pumpability for robotic and airless spray applications.
Designs formulations for OEM paint-shop bake windows and adhesion on e-coat surfaces.
Formulates water-based coatings and rubber-based adhesives/sealants.
Performs routine and investigative testing (viscosity, rheology, adhesion, corrosion, salt spray).
Manages OEM approvals and tests against automotive specifications.
Troubleshoots production issues such as viscosity drift and gelation.
