Automotive Prototype Test Technician
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a Technician II for the Ride and Handling (R&H) Team.
What You Will Do:
- Repair/update/troubleshoot prototype test vehicles for Ride & Handling, NVH, and Total Vehicle Evaluation Teams
- Responsible for supporting chassis tuning activities
- Support California Proving Ground (CPG) test trips (i.e., towing/tire test & evaluation/general chassis tuning)
- Install, configure, and operate test equipment and instrumentation used in automotive testing:
- Transducer installation and calibration
- Data collection and validation of data integrity
- Provide general automotive technician support:
- Remove and replace vehicle components, including prototype components
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex vehicle issues across all vehicle systems
- Component modification and fabrication
- Work cooperatively in a team environment with other technicians and engineers
- Other Responsibilities:
- Document vehicle repairs and modifications in a database environment
- Order parts and equipment
- Maintain shop equipment and tools
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment
- Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
- Associate's degree in automotive or industrial technology
- ASE certification
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse team environment
- Experience contributing toautomotive development or testing
- Experience with vehicle data acquisition systems and transducers, including thermocouples, pressure transducers, load cells, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and ethical behavior
- Experience with all vehicle systems (i.e., engine, transmission, HVAC, chassis, electrical, and body)
- PC skills (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent CAN tools and data analysis skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet time constraints
- Excellent vehicle diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a shop environment, which may include the following:
- Exposure to fuel, compressed air/gas, emissions, and exhaust fumes
- Exposure to pinching, tripping, electrical, and chemical hazards
- Bending and stooping one's body
- Lifting up to 75 lbs
- Working with hand-power tools
- Working indoors andoutdoors in harshconditions concerning weather and temperature
- Wearing safety glasses, as they are required for operating in a shop environment
- Comfortable working in a field environment, which may include the following:
- Exposure to extreme field temperatures, rangingfrom -20 F to +160 F
- Exposure to altitude ranges from -300 feetbelow sea level to +14,000 feetabove sea level
- Bending and stooping one's body
- Lifting while removing and attaching 5,000 lbtrailers to vehicles
- Installing instrumentation
- Repairing vehicle failures
- Operating vehicles for 1,000 miles over a 2-3 day period
- Wearing safety glasses, as they are required for working on vehicles
- Comfortable working in a proving groundenvironment, which may include the following:
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, ranging from- 32F to +100F
- Exposure to high winds
- Exposure to hazardous fuels and oils
- Exposure to emissions and noise
- Wearing safety glasses, as they are required for operating in a proving ground environment
- Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
