Job summary

Kautex is seeking a 2027 Internship - Product Development Engineer in Troy, MI. You will perform a broad range of engineering duties, support engineering models and drawings, and apply core disciplines such as DFMEA and DVP&R in alignment with QS9000 and customer needs.

The internship emphasizes collaboration with supplier and OEM teams, prototype manufacturing support, and capturing lessons learned for future programs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing university degree in engineering (plastics or mechanical preferred).
• Knowledge of core engineering disciplines and validation/testing processes.
• Familiarity with DFMEA/PFMEA and quality methods.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Automotive industry exposure and Six Sigma proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform a broad range of engineering duties defined in our processes.
• Support creation of engineering models/drawings.
• Apply DFMEA, FEA, GDT&T, DVP&R per QS9000 requirements.
• Develop and maintain liaison with customer engineering.
• Provide trial, launch, and post-launch support at supplier, Kautex, and OEM sites.
