Placements24 is seeking a Project Manager for our automotive manufacturing client in East London, Eastern Cape. The hybrid role combines strategic planning with hands-on plant engagement to optimize production lines, drive NPI, and implement lean improvements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in automotive project management, a mechanical/ manufacturing engineering background, and strong leadership and data-analysis skills. MS Project proficiency and ISO/TS 16949 knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years in project management in automotive manufacturing.
• Experience with process improvement, new product introduction, or automation in a manufacturing setting.
• Deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, requiring regular presence at the East London plant.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project).
• Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO/TS 16949).
• Familiarity with automotive industry standards and best practices.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with production data.

Responsabilités

• Lead the planning, execution, and closure of projects within the automotive manufacturing environment.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources for manufacturing process improvements.
• Analyze current production processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for enhancement.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, VSM).
• Oversee the integration of new equipment, automation, and technologies into the production lines.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams.
• Ensure projects meet stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Facilitate project meetings and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve safety.
