Job summary

MAHLE is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to support our Compressor Product Engineering Group in developing and launching automotive air conditioning compressor designs for global vehicle applications.

The role requires a hands-on student participating in design, prototype builds, testing, and data analysis, with responsibilities spanning testing coordination, data interpretation, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a part-time internship in Lockport, NY.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; open to Freshman or higher.
• High level of mechanical aptitude and analytical skills is required.
• Experience reading technical drawings and interpreting GD&T is preferred.
• Good written and oral skills – ability to convey technical concepts.
• Computer competency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD drafting knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work within the MAHLE Compressor Product Development team to advance product development and customer launch activities.
• Assist with preparation, build, and testing of compressor product samples.
• Coordinate and monitor testing programs.
• Analyze test data and organize results with observations and conclusions.
• Apply engineering practices to achieve design solutions.
• Participate in product cost and quality improvement efforts.
• Participate in cross-functional teams related to customer program launch activity.
• Meetings and training sessions participation.
• Meet with outside suppliers/vendors.
• Perform other assignments as instructed by Department Management.
