Job description

Duluth Kia is seeking a highly organized and experienced Parts Manager to oversee the daily operations of our parts department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inventory management, staff supervision, vendor relations, and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction. This individual plays a crucial role in the efficiency and profitability of the service and repair process by maintaining an accurate inventory of parts and delivering outstanding support to technicians and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all parts department operations, including ordering, receiving, storing, and distributing automotive parts.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet service demands while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
  • Collaborate with service and sales departments to forecast parts demand and ensure availability.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate parts department staff to ensure efficiency and adherence to company policies.
  • Monitor and manage department expenses to meet budget and profitability goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, returns, and inventory transactions using the dealership management system (DMS).
  • Establish strong working relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Handle warranty parts returns, core returns, and parts claims in accordance with OEM or supplier policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve department performance and streamline operations.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on inventory, sales trends, and department performance to leadership.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business or automotive technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a parts department, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts and systems.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Work performed in both office and warehouse/shop environments.
  • May be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, based on department needs.
