Job summary

PEAK Technical Services Inc. is seeking a Packaging Engineer in Ogden, UT to lead and coordinate design and optimization of regional packaging for automotive components, automation cells, and service parts.

Qualifications

• BS in Packaging Engineering strongly preferred; Mechanical/Industrial acceptable.
• 3-5 years of related experience.
• CAD & Packaging software proficiency: SolidWorks/NX/CATIA; ArtiosCAD for corrugated/dunnage; read drawings and GD&T.
• Palletization/Cartonization: TOPS/Cape Pack (or WMS-native).
• Materials: Corrugate/corrplast, HDPE/PP thermoforms, foams, textiles, steel/aluminum racks.
• Testing & Standards: ISTA 1A/2A/3A/6A, ASTM D4169.
• Automation-readiness: EOAT/grip interfaces and robot/vision considerations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and test packaging (expendable & returnable) including distribution testing.
• Validate and certify packaging to DOT & HazMat requirements for the Americas.
• Drive cost efficiencies through standardization and data management.
• Own customer packaging responses as part of the PPAP process and content management.
• Engineer packaging components (racks, totes, dunnage) with CAD drawings and revision control.
• Create packaging solutions using SolidWorks or CATIA for automotive components.
• Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to reduce cost and improve performance.
• Run sample builds, line trials, and transport/durability tests; document results.
• Qualify packaging materials and write standard work instructions; lead trials.
• Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in packaging.
• Review supplier proposals; maintain PFEP data for service/parts.
• Collaborate on readiness and change control with Ops and QA teams.
• Develop consumer-facing packaging while preserving protection.
• Design cell-friendly packaging for high first-pass pick rates.
