Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Packaging Engineer to design and implement automotive packaging solutions that optimize material flow and reduce costs across the manufacturing process.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, materials, logistics, and plant operations to develop returnable packaging—sequence racks, repack containers, and material handling systems that improve efficiency and space utilization on the line.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in automotive packaging, container design, rack design, or material handling engineering.
• Experience designing returnable containers, sequence racks, repack racks, or other racking systems used in automotive manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of pack density optimization, including maximizing parts per container and reducing packaging and transportation costs.
• Experience supporting the implementation of racking systems on the plant floor, including safety and ergonomic reviews/buyoffs.
• Ability to analyze material flow and develop continuous improvement solutions for existing packaging and container systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, improve, and implement automotive packaging solutions to support efficient material flow throughout the manufacturing process.
• Evaluate racks, containers, and sequencing systems to identify opportunities to improve pack density and reduce costs.
• Develop returnable packaging solutions with manufacturing, materials, logistics, and plant operations teams.
• Coordinate safety and ergonomic reviews and validate designs in production for successful plant integration.
• Deliver practical solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce overall packaging costs.
