Job summary

Pacer Group in Georgetown, KY seeks an experienced Technician specializing in automotive quality metrology to support new model development. You will inspect body welding tooling and verify part accuracy using portable CMM systems, 3D measurement software, and metrology tools.

The role emphasizes hands-on inspection, data analysis, and collaboration with engineering and quality teams, with travel up to 25% and the ability to work independently, including overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years automotive/aerospace metrology QA, sheet-metal preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive body structure and welding processes.
• Hands-on portable CMM, scanners, laser trackers experience.
• Experience with FARO, VectorArm, Perceptron, Leica or Creaform.
• Experience with 3D metrology software (PolyWorks, CAM2, SCENE, PC-DMIS).
• 3D modeling experience is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and use of small hand tools.
• Proficient with Excel/Office suite.
• Willingness to travel 25% domestically and internationally.
• Able to work independently and in a team; physically capable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect body welding tooling and components for quality and accuracy.
• Measure parts using portable CMM equipment (FARO, VectorArm, Perceptron, Leica, Creaform).
• Support first builds and pre-production activities.
• Analyze data from PolyWorks, CATIA, and 3D imaging systems.
• Perform part-quality inspections with hand tools and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot equipment and fit issues; adjust datums as needed.
• Create and maintain project schedules and milestones.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and project teams; also work independently.
• Occasionally work weekends/holidays and overtime as required.
