Job summary

SMCOX is seeking an Automotive Mechanic Technician II to service and repair fleet vehicles. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and some fabrication while ensuring safety and cost controls.

The role requires a high school diploma, ASE or state certifications, a valid driver’s license, and 2–3 years of repair experience; weekend availability may be required. Mon-Fri 6AM-2:30PM shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.

• 2–3 years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Must be able to work days, afternoons, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Must continue training to maintain current State Certification status and to keep up with technology and fleet changes.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Requires physical ability and mental acuity to perform duties within required timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Perform Preventive Maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, battery checks, and inspections.
• Perform more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, and some fabrication.
• Repairs and maintenance including OBD II systems, brakes, tune-ups, suspension, electrical, engine, and drive components.
• Keep the shop area clean and safe; dispose of fluids and materials properly.
• Assist with specialized vehicle troubleshooting, electrical systems, hybrids, and on-board computer systems when needed.
• Take initiative and exceed expectations; act without being asked by supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Automotive Mechanic Technician II

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6AM - 2:30PM

A mid- level vehicle technician provides a high-quality vehicle maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles. Provides service and delivery of vehicles with exceptional service to customers and is mindful of the control of costs. The technician may work independently or in a team environment.

• Perform Preventive Maintenance such as change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, battery, transmission flush, and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.

• Performs some more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, and some fabrication.

• Based upon certification levels, various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tune-ups, suspension components, electrical systems, interior/exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc.

• Keep the shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids and martials in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.

• Assures availability of specialized vehicle troubleshooting and repairing complex systems repairs, and electrical systems, hybrids, and on-board computer systems.

• Go above and beyond when inspecting units’ work is done at the higher standard.

• Take action on a work without being asked by one's supervisor.

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• High School Diploma preferred.

• State or ASE Certifications required

• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record required.

• 2-3 years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
