Job summary

Roush is seeking an Automotive Mechanic Senior in Allen Park, MI to work in a prototype environment and lead a small team. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical/electrical systems, following service procedures, and coaching colleagues to meet standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 8+ years of mechanic experience, and the ability to read procedures. Tools and overtime/weekend work are expected.

Qualifications

• Automotive technology certificate or equivalent preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret service procedures.
• Experience mentoring or leading others is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicle functional condition by working from repair orders and inspections.
• Repair mechanical and electrical system issues and replace parts as needed.
• Read, interpret, and follow service procedures precisely.
• Train and mentor team members and serve as SME to support customers.
• Maintain vehicle records with accurate notes and orders.
• Keep shop equipment functional by troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Lead daily shop organization and cleanup.

The Automotive Mechanic Senior will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The Automotive Mechanic Senior mentors and oversees team member’s technical deliverables to ensure Roush and customer standards are met. This position is located in Allen Park, MI.

As an Automotive Mechanic Senior, you will:

• Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections
• Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components
• Read, interpret, and follow service procedures
• Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert to assist the team and customer
• Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
• Lead daily shop organization and clean-up

To be considered as an Automotive Mechanic Senior, you will need:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 8 years of work experience as a mechanic
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment
• Good attention to detail and organizational skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team and able to mentor and train others
• Has own tools with rolling toolbox and able to work overtime and weekends
• Ability to read, comprehend and execute written procedures

A successful candidate may also have:

• Certificate in Automotive Technology or related
• State Mechanic Certification(s)
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines and balancers
