Job summary

Roush is hiring an Automotive Mechanic I in Michigan to modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance under mentorship. You will work on a range of systems and document service orders while maintaining shop standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, 6 months of relevant experience, and own tools. A team-based, hands-on environment with opportunities to advance is offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
• Reading, interpreting, and following service procedures.
• Maintaining vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
• Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
• Participatingin daily shop organization and clean-ups

The Automotive Mechanic I will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs and maintenance. The Automotive Mechanic I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.

As anAutomotive Mechanic I, you will be responsible for:

To be considered as anAutomotive Mechanic I, you will need:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Six months of relevant experience
• Mechanical ability and ability to operate shop equipment
• Good attention to detail and organizational skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Has own tools with rolling toolbox
• Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures

A successful candidate may also have:

• Certificate in Automotive Technology or related
• National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
• State Mechanic Certification(s)
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines and balancers
• Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
