Job summary

Bobby’s Auto Service Center is hiring a reliable Automotive Maintenance Technician for a full-time, on-site role in Gloucester Point, Virginia. We are a fast-paced independent shop committed to quality workmanship and customer safety, with every Saturday and Sunday off.

You will perform routine maintenance, tire services, TPMS work, battery checks, and minor repairs, while maintaining records and ensuring a clean, safe work environment. Formal automotive training and tools are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal automotive training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must have your own professional set of automotive tools.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, and alignments.
• Mounting and balancing tires; TPMS inspection and relearn.
• Check battery condition and replace batteries when needed.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle fluid levels, filters, belts, and other routine items.
• Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance to enhance safety and longevity.
• Communicate clearly with customers and team about vehicle condition and repairs.
• Maintain accurate service records and keep a clean, safe work area.

Job Responsibilities

• Performing routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and alignments.
• Mounting and balancing tires.
• Performing tire repairs using tire plugs.
• Inspecting and maintaining Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).
• Replacing and relearning TPMS sensors when necessary.
• Checking battery condition and replacing batteries when needed.
• Checking and adjusting tire pressure to manufacturer specifications.
• Inspecting vehicles for oil leaks and other maintenance concerns.
• Inspecting front suspension components for wear or potential safety issues.
• Checking and maintaining vehicle fluid levels, filters, belts, and other routine maintenance items.
• Performing minor repairs, such as replacing bulbs and other basic components.
• Performing preventive maintenance to improve vehicle safety, reliability, and longevity.
• Communicating clearly with customers, technicians, and management regarding vehicle condition and recommended repairs.
• Troubleshooting maintenance concerns and resolving issues efficiently.
• Maintaining accurate records of services performed and parts used.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Following proper shop safety procedures and industry standards.
• Managing time effectively and maintaining a productive workflow.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal automotive training is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must have your own professional set of automotive tools.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while also being a dependable team member.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Punctuality and dependable attendance are essential.
