Oklahoma Technical College is looking for an Automotive Technology Lab Assistant that supports the delivery of hands-on training in the Automotive Technology program by assisting instructors with lab setup, student supervision, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. This role ensures a safe, clean, and functional learning environment for students pursuing technical education in automotive repair and diagnostics.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, and organize tools, materials, and equipment for lab exercises and instructional demonstrations.
- Assist instructors with hands-on lab activities, including supervising student work and reinforcing proper techniques.
- Monitor students during lab sessions to ensure safe and appropriate use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
- Clean and maintain lab tools, equipment, and shop areas after each session.
- Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting of tools and automotive training equipment.
- Track tool and supply inventory; assist with ordering and restocking materials as needed.
- Support lab compliance with OSHA standards and campus safety procedures.
- Provide students with technical guidance as appropriate, under the direction of the lead instructor.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development training, and campus functions as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification by ASE preferred.
- Two or more years of experience with automotive repair processes and equipment, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.
- Ability to perform physical tasks in demonstration of automotive repair processes and equipment, which may require lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively in an educational setting.
