Job summary

New Brighton Ford is seeking Automotive Service Technicians to join our Service Department. Candidates with 3+ years as Journeyman Technician or similar roles are preferred; ASE certification is valuable but not required. Diesel technicians are encouraged to apply.

Pay ranges from $27 to $48 per hour and comprehensive benefits are offered. Responsibilities include performing repairs per repair orders, test-driving, diagnosing systems, and communicating with the Service Advisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years experience as Journeyman/Diagnostic/Drivability Technician or similar.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
• Willing to submit to pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• ASE certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles per the repair order.
• Test-drive vehicles and use diagnostic tools to identify issues.
• Diagnose, maintain and repair vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, steering, etc.).
• Communicate with Service Advisor regarding additional needed work and times.
• Execute warranty repairs according to manufacturer specifications.

Journeyman Technician Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership.
• Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are informed if any additional service is needed. Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.

Qualifications

• Previous experience at an automotive dealership preferred
• Strong understanding of the service drive
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Dexterity, requiring a steady hand, excellent hand-eye coordination
• Mechanical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Basic computer competencies
• Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with ability to collaborate with others effectively
• Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
• Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
