Job summary

Verizon is seeking an experienced fleet mechanic to maintain and repair a broad range of vehicles and equipment at a Verizon worksite. You will diagnose issues with a range of tools, perform required inspections, and keep accurate records of parts and maintenance tasks.

You must have 5+ years of mechanic experience, a CDL or permit within 6 months, and a valid state license. The role requires safety compliance, physical ability, and willingness to work 2 pm–10 pm, with possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a mechanic or equivalent.
• CDL License or Commercial Learner’s Permit (CDL required within 6 months).
• Valid state driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Tests – Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company.
• Must meet safety‑related requirements including OSHA/state standards.
• Must be able to perform physical work up to 75 lbs.
• Commercial Driver’s License, when required, must pass alcohol and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance and repair of all types of motor vehicles and special equipment in the Verizon fleet.
• Diagnosing, maintaining and repairing all company‑associated equipment, including aerial lifts, diggers, generators, tools, etc.
• Using computer test equipment to diagnose vehicle problems.
• Interfacing with vehicle users regarding repairs, questions, etc.
• Performing OSHA, ANSI, emissions, and state inspections on company vehicles.
• Utilizing Fleet maintenance tracking computer systems to determine work assignments, record keeping, time reporting, parts inventory, etc.
• Obtaining and maintaining all required certificates or licenses.
• Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts based on the needs of the business.
• Work tour hours are 2 pm to 10 pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary).
• Overtime is as needed by the Company.
• Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on diesel vehicles (bonus).
• Current ASE Certifications (bonus).

What you'll be doing…

Keep our motors running! You’ll have the chance to work on all types and sizes of vehicles, in addition to mobile tools and equipment. You’ll keep our fleet vehicles in tip‑top shape to ensure they’re ready for anything. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• CDL License or Commercial Learner’s Permit (CDL required within 6 months of hire).

• Must meet safety‑related requirements including, but not limited to, those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the company.
• Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying and maneuvering heavy equipment up to 75 lbs.
• Where a Commercial Driver’s License is required, applicant must pass an alcohol and drug test.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on diesel vehicles.
• Current ASE Certifications.
