Job summary

BorgWarner in the United States (North Carolina) is seeking a motivated System Engineer to drive the development and release of embedded software and sensor systems for smart, brushless DC actuators and automotive applications.

You will translate customer requirements into robust system designs, manage software releases, and collaborate with OEMs, suppliers, and manufacturing sites to ensure successful product launches and sustained performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, System Engineering, or similar.
• 5+ years of experience in system engineering, embedded systems, or automotive electronics.
• Familiarity with embedded hardware and/or software development, automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, SPI, UART), and MCU architectures.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with structured root‑cause analysis.
• Hands-on proficiency with lab equipment and technical documentation creation.
• Experience with systems and software development processes including requirements management and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead system integration and release for projects during development and through launch.
• Develop and maintain engineering timing plans across design, testing, and validation.
• Define and manage internal system requirements with traceability and compliance.
• Lead software release activities and support system calibration and integration.
• Provide hands-on debugging, reflashing, and CAN communication support.
• Run performance and validation testing for system and mechanical durability.
