Job summary

Summit Truck Bodies in Wathena, KS is seeking an Automotive Electrical Designer to create, develop, and test electrical systems for service trucks, focusing on wiring, control modules, safety features, and factory automation.

The role emphasizes CAD work, DC circuits, load calculations, and collaboration with technicians to ensure compliant, reliable designs; experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault and NetSuite is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science preferred.
• ISO 9001 production facility experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault and NetSuite preferred.
• Experience with Bills of Materials preferred.
• Experience in fast-paced multi-entity environments.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD software with a primary emphasis on DC circuits.
• Choose appropriate electrical components, materials, and equipment for the project.
• Ability to discuss and train/teach technicians how to read and understand electrical schematics.
• Perform load calculations and power studies to determine electrical needs.
• Identify and resolve design issues during the project life cycle.
• Create precise wiring diagrams, schematics, and layouts that meet standards and specifications.
• Daily tasks to include using CAD software (like AutoCAD and Inventor), modifying circuits, ensuring code compliance.
