Job summary

US Farathane is seeking a Dimensional Analyst to join our Auburn Hills team. The role focuses on variation management, GD&T fundamentals during design, and translating metrology data into robust engineering solutions.

Key duties include generating metrology reports, establishing GD&T per ASME Y14.5, and mentoring design and manufacturing teams. Strong analytical skills and CAD/PLM experience are required for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years in automotive product engineering, dimensional control, or design verification.
• Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards (certification preferred).
• Solid background in statistical methods, data visualization, and tolerance stack-up.
• Experience with CAD/PLM tools to view/analyze models (NX, CATIA, etc).
• Proficient in automotive root-cause methodologies (8D, Fishbone, 5-Why).
• Ability to generate metrology reports and interpret measurement data.
• Experience with metrology data from 3D scanners and CMMs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in generating metrology reports for the dimensional lab.
• Establish GD&T fundamentals on automotive drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Analyze and report metrology data from 3D scanners and CMMs.
• Collaborate with design engineers to set datums and tolerance budgets for DFM.
• Perform 1D and 2D tolerance stack-up analyses for assembly variation.
• Translate point-cloud data into actionable design recommendations.
• Educate engineers and manufacturing teams on proper GD&T interpretation.
• Review SPC data from pre-production to validate process capability.
