Diesel and Trailer Mechanic - Starting Pay from $27 per hour
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company-owned tractors and trailers. Drive tractors and trailers to test that repairs meet requirements and conform to safety standards.
Day to Day Role:
- Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements
- Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
- Properly diagnose and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers, including but not limited to gas and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic and air brake systems, drivetrain, suspension, chassis and electrical systems
- Disassemble, examine parts for defects and excessive wear, recondition and replace parts
- Estimate and price repairs, order and inventory parts as necessary
- Validate that mechanical repairs meet regulatory requirements and conform to safety standards
- Perform maintenance practices and processes intended to safely maintain the fleet and comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality and safety standards to serve the needs of our customers
- Support Operational Excellence and effectively participate in lean initiatives and problem-solving activities as needed
- Participate in safety meetings per Corporate guidelines
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
- 18 years of age with valid Driver License (Non-Commercial Driver License)
- High school diploma with two (2) years of related experience OR Associate’s degree with an emphasis in Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or related field of study
- Favorable driving record upon hiring and ability to maintain throughout duration of employment
- Must meet all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified
- Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
