Job summary

Nidec Motor Corporation is seeking a Customer Quality Engineer to manage key accounts and lead resolution of quality issues in a team environment. You will interact with customers globally, gather and analyze warranty data, and drive quality improvements across manufacturing and supplier interfaces.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of experience in quality/manufacturing engineering in high-volume automotive settings, and strong problem-solving skills. Up to 15% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Analytical thinking with problem-solving techniques (e.g., Pareto, cause-and-effect, histograms).
• Technical knowledge of plating, plastic molding, metal stamping and/or welding is a plus.
• Written and verbal communication with customers (internal & external).
• Quality engineering / Manufacturing engineering experience in automated high-volume production environment within automotive industry.
• Familiarity with SPC tools and charts; ISO 14001 / IATF 16949 knowledge.
• Limited knowledge of soldering, electronics components and PCB assembly is a plus.
• Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and Access).

Responsibilities

• Develop strategy to manage specific customer accounts.
• Lead customer quality issue resolution.
• Interacts with customer to satisfy their requirements.
• Understand customer specific requirements.
• Maintain daily quality (PPM / other KPI targets) and cost data for all requirements.
• Actively engage site production team to drive manufacturing improvements.
• Support new business opportunities and new product development programs.
• Gather warranty data, generate warranty charts, analyze trends and prepare warranty report for each assigned OEM to reduce warranty cost.
• Support change management programs customers, and at plant level.
• Fulfill / Submit all new parts submission (PPAP) requirements.
• Interact closely with cross functional Team to perform APQP for new product launches and AQP for product/process changes.
• Key member of FMEA Development serving as liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering.
• Set quality goals and improvement plans.
• Document and utilize lessons learned.
• Review / Improve Control plans.
• Lead / Direct customer issues to closure by gathering appropriate teams and leading problem solving using tools (8D, 5P, 5 Whys, Fault Tree Analysis).
• May entail New Product Launch activity which would require FMEA Moderator training.
