Job summary

Baxter Auto Group, including its Audi Shawnee Mission dealership, is seeking a Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management. The role partners with leadership across the dealership to drive profitability and ensure compliance with GAAP and manufacturer requirements.

You will supervise accounting staff, coordinate with external auditors, and deliver timely financial insights to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; 5+ years accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of modern accounting and finance models, tools, practices, and approaches.
• Accounting & Finance data analytics experience required.
• Excellent written communication, time management, detail orientation, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead store accounting team including coaching, development, performance management and quarterly check-ins.
• Prepare all financial statements in GAAP format within manufacturer guidelines and timelines.
• Ensure all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate.
• Review and maintain general ledger and schedule accounts; liaise with auditors and tax professionals during audits and filings.
• Provide financial insights to store leaders to support decision-making and forecasting.
