Job summary

State of Ohio Transportation - District 07 is seeking a full-time Automotive Mechanic in Sidney, OH. The position focuses on preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and detailed record-keeping for a fleet of cars, trucks and equipment.

Work hours are 7:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with potential overtime. A Class A CDL is required; a probationary period and background/drug testing apply according to agency policy.

Qualifications

• 24 months of experience in automotive repair & maintenance of a variety of vehicles & equipment.
• Or 12 months as ODOT Mechanic Trainee with CDL as required when applicable.
• Equivalent of minimum qualifications with mandated licensure.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and service on cars, trucks, and equipment.
• Perform minor repairs or other related mechanical work.
• Maintain records of repairs & maintenance.
• Inspect vehicles and assess damage to determine repair needs.
• Remove damaged parts and restore surface.
• Repair dents and scratches using fillers and tools.
• Fit and weld replacement parts to restore integrity.
• Sand and grind to prepare surfaces for painting.
• Paint and refinish to desired finish.
• Align frames and structures to restore rigidity.
• Install glass and windshields as needed.
