Job summary

Perrigo is hiring an Automation/Vision Engineering Technician to support manufacturing and packaging operations by maintaining and improving automation and vision systems. The role involves hands-on troubleshooting, system upgrades, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure reliable production processes.

The successful candidate will provide technical support on third shift, collaborate with engineering and IT teams, lead system upgrades, and assist with change management and documentation.

Qualifications

Description Overview

The Automation/Vision Engineering Technician plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing and packaging operations by maintaining and improving automation and vision systems.

This position involves hands-on troubleshooting, system upgrades, and collaboration across departments to ensure reliable and efficient production processes.

Scope of the Role

• Provide technical support during third-shift operations, including emergency response and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and IT teams to resolve automation and vision system issues.
• Lead and support system upgrades to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Participate in change management activities and maintain accurate documentation of system modifications.
• Review and validate equipment specifications to ensure compliance with site standards.
• Be available for overtime and after-hours support as needed.

Experience Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in packaging or manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with change control and validation processes.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to navigate multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and interaction with external partners.
• Physical capability to work from ladders/lifts, perform heavy lifting, and provide personal transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience programming Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs (RSLogix500, Studio5000).
• Minimum 5 years of experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., barcode scanning, label presence, OCR).
• Solid understanding of Ethernet/IP communication, drives/servos, robotics, and control system design.
• Ability to read and create control system documentation.
