Job summary

J.B. Poindexter & Co. in Michigan seeks a Director of Automation Engineering - Program Execution to lead the automation project portfolio across JBPCO sites.

You will build and guide an internal team of engineers to launch automation projects through production ramps, leveraging internal capabilities or external vendors. The role requires a strong background in mechanical/electrical engineering, programming, and controls, with a track record of delivering automation in high-volume manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• Experience delivering automation projects across multiple facilities.
• Experience with automation vendors and applications.
• Proven implementation of automation in manual manufacturing environments.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience in a high-volume, complex manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of Automation Program Leads and Engineers across JBPCO sites.
• Collaborate with business units and corporate to design, install and launch new equipment.
• Develop the automation roadmap and concept developments with business units.
• Create strategies to quickly deploy improvements through equipment and procedures.
• Cross-functionally secure buy-in and ensure portfolio implementation.
• Evaluate current processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Lead vendor evaluation and manage system acquisition from RFP to ramp.
• Prepare concept layouts, drawings, and document design processes.
• Lead complex system tests and produce reports, ensuring ergonomics and space efficiency.
