Job summary

Apexon is hiring an Automation Tester to join our onsite team in Olympia, WA. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in functional, automation, and API testing, with hands-on skills in manual testing, RESTful APIs, and database validation.

You will develop test plans, create automated scripts, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with developers and product managers to ensure high quality software releases.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled QA Engineer with 5+ years of experience in functional, automation, and API testing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products through comprehensive testing processes. This role requires hands on experience with manual and automated testing, RESTful APIs, web services, microservices, and database testing, along with strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on functional, automation, and API testing.
• Functional and manual testing.
• Automation testing using industry standard tools and frameworks.
• API testing using Postman to create and execute test scripts for RESTful APIs.
• Testing web services and microservices.
• Database testing and data validation.
• Defect identification, reporting, and tracking.
• Test documentation, test reporting, and result analysis.
• Experience performing manual and automated tests to validate integration between software components and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for functional testing.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand requirements and provide feedback on design and implementation.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using industry standard tools and frameworks.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
• Analyze automation test results, identify issues, and collaborate with development teams to resolve them.
• Create and execute API test plans and test cases to validate API functionality, performance, and security.
• Use Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools to perform API testing.
• Ensure comprehensive coverage of API endpoints and maintain API test documentation.
• Perform database testing to validate data integrity and application functionality.
• Prepare test reports and communicate testing results to relevant stakeholders.
• Support integration testing to ensure the smooth interaction of software components and systems.

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
