Application Development - Automation Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join our Application Development team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building robust test automation frameworks and ensuring software quality across web-based payment systems, APIs, and third-party integrations. You will work in a collaborative, Scrum-based environment alongside QA engineers, developers, product owners, and leadership to uphold our high standards of quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using JavaScript and Cypress.io for UI and API testing across multiple web-based payment portals.
• Implement automated processes for nightly test runs and monitor their performance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed QA and automation into the development lifecycle.
• Develop comprehensive test strategies and ensure thorough regression coverage.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Docker and Jenkins.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Analyze test results and provide actionable recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and automate challenging test scenarios.
• Communicate automation needs and challenges effectively across teams.
• Report automation progress during sprint ceremonies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5–6 years of experience in programming and test automation.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Proven experience building test automation frameworks from scratch.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Cypress.io.
• Backend API automation experience (e.g., Python or similar).
• Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, Playwright, Docker, Jenkins, SQL, React.js, Node.js.
• Experience with security/penetration, performance, and load testing.
• Exposure to Golang, PHP, Python, Java.
• API testing using Bruno.
• Knowledge of AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Understanding of HIPAA, PCI, and PII compliance standards.
• Experience in e-commerce and POS hardware testing.
