Automation Test Engineer III

The Automation Test Engineer III develops and implements automated tests to ensure product quality and efficiency. The role applies advanced QA practices, methodologies, and techniques to test and meet all quality standards. The engineer utilizes testing tools, test management solutions, and data management approaches to support continuous testing. This position contributes to developing and optimizing test automation frameworks and recommends quality improvement initiatives for future releases. Additionally, the engineer coaches and mentors less experienced team members.

Position Responsibilities

Design and Methodology

1. Designs the overall testing plan for projects.
2. Leads defect detection, troubleshooting, and problem-solving related to project development.
3. Assumes a lead role in decision-making related to quality within the team.
4. Designs and develops test automation scripts at scale.
5. Researches software issues through testing.
6. Develops test automation frameworks for Web, Mobile, and API testing.
7. Investigates and implements new testing tools and methods.
8. Maintains and extends existing build tools.
9. Defines test strategies and approaches at the project level.
10. Participates in code reviews, emphasizing testability.
11. Suggests new processes and techniques for testing.
12. Identifies automation opportunities within software processes.
13. Designs and executes automated QA tests for functionality.
14. Creates test cases for new product features and validates requirements and bug fixes.
15. Automates test cases for Web, Mobile, and API testing.
16. Implements test strategies and plans.
17. Performs continuous testing using build tools like Jenkins.
18. Identifies bugs and quality issues in development, services, or business processes.
19. Installs applications, including build and testing tools.

Technical Consulting

1. Collaborates with business units to improve workflows through automation.
2. Gathers requirements from clients and end-users to develop automation solutions.
3. Influences team to identify testable new features.
4. Understands testing across multiple concurrent work streams.
5. Contributes to best practices and standards established by the Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE).
6. Understands dependencies between teams.
7. Works with project teams to develop solutions.
8. Collaborates with quality engineering on testing strategies and guidelines.

Risk Management

Understands risk management in testing, including risk mitigation, identification, and impact analysis. Implements quality compliance and governance, participates in Agile planning, and engages TCOE to update standard playbooks.

Administration/Support

1. Tracks weekly time.
2. Reports to test management.
3. Participates in testing meetings.
4. Completes required training.
