Position: Automation Technician, Third Shift

Reports to: Production Manager

Shift: Third Shift: Monday – Friday, 10:00 pm – 6:30 am

Job Summary

This position on the production floor is responsible for maintaining continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components on automated process equipment.

Essential Functions

1. Perform machine changeovers between parts and jobs.
2. Clear machine jams as needed.
3. Clean machines and perform preventive maintenance.
4. Troubleshoot product issues (metal and plastic) and adjust accordingly.
5. Address mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, adjusting as necessary.
6. Adjust and fabricate components to adapt feeding systems, tracks, fixtures, and tooling, providing feedback or receiving guidance from supervisors or engineers.
7. Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including sensors, relays, servo systems, motor controls, and PLCs.
8. Adjust robot positions, coordinate types, jog, and troubleshoot errors.
9. Document all changes made to machines, fixtures, or tooling as required by Engineering.
10. Maintain inventory of spare parts.
11. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all machine systems.
12. Document equipment history through the specified systems.
13. Communicate shift status and issues with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of 120VAC and 24VDC control circuits, industrial power 3-phase 480V, and electrical safety practices.
• Proficiency with PLCs and VFD-controlled machinery.
• Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
• Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment; maintain necessary tools.
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows-based computer operations.
• Ability to work overtime, sometimes on short notice or weekends.
• Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
