Job summary

Technique, Inc. is a Michigan-based precision sheet metal and welded assemblies manufacturer seeking an Automation Technician- Robot Welder for our Jackson, Michigan facility.

The role reports to the Automation Supervisor in the Automation department and involves MIG/TIG welding of stainless and carbon steel, supporting QA with layouts and inspection, and developing production fixturing while operating and recovering welding robots throughout production.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with vocational training.
• Forklift operator’s license preferred.
• 2 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Good understanding of GD&T and blueprints.
• Proficient programming Motoman, Panasonic, and Fanuc robots.
• Ability to use CAD and SolidWorks.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools.
• Good understanding of weld fixture design.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
• Active position with standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
• Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Exposure to fumes/particles, chemicals, moving parts, equipment, vibration, loud noise.
• No travel required.

Responsibilities

• Set up welders, weld, and troubleshoot basic GTAW and GMAW joints.
• Perform first-piece layouts to support QA.
• Program and adjust robotic welders; modify offsets on pieces for good welds.
• Maintain robotic welders: calibrate, program, maintain and troubleshoot with CMM feedback.
• Package parts for shipping.
• Complete documentation for all production runs.
