Job summary

West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. seeks an Automation Technician to maintain and improve automated assembly lines. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot failures, and support shifts with timely repairs to minimize downtime.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year in plant automation or automation-focused trade school, and the ability to read OEM manuals and operate a powered industrial truck. Training during days, then a 12-hour night shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience related to plant automation or 1 year of trade school with an automation focus.
• Must be able to comply with safety policy at all times.
• Must be able to comply with quality policy at all times.
• Able to read OEM manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
• Experience with Lean Sigma programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of all automation equipment during production.
• Assist with installation, set up and validation of incoming automation equipment.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust.
• Interface with automation engineering to implement process improvements.
• Assist shift lead in maintaining quality of finished product through proper machine operation.
• Maintain spare parts inventory with proper cataloging.
• Provide timely notification to shift lead of maintenance issues and downtime.
• Reviews line history and documentation to enhance line efficiencies.
• Maintain equipment logbooks with accurate repair/adjustment information.
• Actively participate and comply with West 5S and HSE programs.
• Assist with training and development of personnel on new processes or systems.
