Job summary

Prime Controls, L.P. in Orlando is seeking an Automation Technician to set up, configure, start-up, and troubleshoot instrumentation, wiring, controls, and PLCs.

You will review plans and schematics, connect instruments, calibrate equipment, and perform basic PLC/HMI programming. The role includes on-site work, service calls, and occasional after-hours support, with emphasis on hands-on electrical and control system tasks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Must be able to use hand tools, pressure pumps, and electrical meters of all types.
• 4+ years of related experience (preferred).
• Familiarity with PLC and HMI software.
• Fiber certification.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, start-up, and troubleshoot instrumentation, wiring, controls, and PLCs.
• Review plans and schematics to understand objectives and functions.
• Connect instruments and verify proper operation.
• Set up instrumentation at job sites and calibrate per specifications.
• Perform basic PLC and HMI programming tasks.
• Troubleshoot problems during start-up and adjust programming as needed.
• May perform service calls and on-call after-hours support.
• Contribute to submittals, specification reviews, and drawings.
