Job summary

Altium Packaging in Sparta, Tennessee is seeking an Automation Technician to develop, diagnose, and maintain automated packaging equipment and robotics on a 12-hour shift (6p-6a). The role supports safety, production efficiency, and product quality on the plant floor.

Qualified candidates will read blueprints, understand electrical power ranges, configure sensors, and program automation systems. Prior PLC experience and a certification in automation are preferred; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Proficient in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, and control systems.
• Familiar with PLCs and automation software.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain automated packing equipment and robotics.
• Set up, debug, and validate new automation as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair packing, automation and mold equipment.
• Develop, install, and program automation and robotics.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and adhere to PPE guidelines.

Work Shift

12hr-D Shift (6p-6a) Sparta (United States of America)

The Automation team is responsible for the development, diagnostics, and maintenance of all automated packing equipment and robotics. Automation team maintains safety, improves production efficiencies and product quality.

Essential Functions

• Handle and operate any machinery, tools or equipment used safely while performing job duties.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints Mechanical and Electrical
• Must be able to work with electrical power from 24v to 480v
• Must be able to adjust sensors or know how to configure sensors
• Set up & debug new automation as needed
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair various packing, automation and mold equipment
• Develop, install, and program automation and robotics
• Develop, install and validate vision systems
• Assist with the integration, startup and debugging of plant floor equipment
• Maintain clean work environment

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Employee could be exposed to seasonal weather conditions if required to go outdoors. Proper use of PPE is required at all times.
