Job description

SUMMARY:

The Automation Technician I will ensure proper working condition of, and the safety of its use, all terminal automated mailing equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair and rebuild automated mailing equipment.
  • Set up the use of tools and equipment prior to production to ensure optimum safety levels.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure all machines are in proper working condition.
  • Learn and maintain proficiency on all applicable software formats/programs.
  • Duties may include reassignment to alternate operational areas as business needs require.
  • Essential duties are not necessarily exhaustive and may be supplemented or otherwise revised by DHL at its sole discretion.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School or equivalent training and/or least 6 months related experience preferred

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Ability to understand and speak English
  • Examine, inspect, fix, and operate automated machinery for equipment defects.
  • Estimate size, form, quality or quantity of operations, speed of moving objects.
  • Determine malfunctioning of units by observing; determine nature and location of malfunction.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of automation or other equipment.
  • Operate equipment requiring specialized knowledge of process.
  • Work under pressure; rapidly for long periods of time and on several tasks at the same time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walk, bend, push, reach and lift up to 50 lbs (additional weight may be required with assistance)
  • Ability to sit and stand for hours at a time
  • Noise level generated from other distribution activity can be somewhat loud at times, but no damaging levels or protective equipment required
  • Temperature in the distribution center can vary greatly from warm to cool
  • Travel less than 10% of the time
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs, ladders and scaffolds and work at various stages of heights throughout the building

Compensation: $26-34/hourly +Shift Differential
