Job summary

Swagelok is seeking an Automation Technician in Highland Heights, OH to support and troubleshoot control systems for manufacturing and assembly processes. You will work on diagnostics, new equipment start-up, and maintain automation software while collaborating with engineering teams to improve performance and reduce downtime.

The role requires hands-on experience in automation and controls, strong problem-solving abilities, and commitment to safety and documentation.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED with 2 years of relevant experience or a 2-year associate's degree in a related automation field.
Minimum 2 years of automation and controls engineering experience.
Manufacturing, assembly, and/or warehouse experience preferred.
Proficient in using moderately technical tools.
Strong written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and resolves automation system issues across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
Modifies and reverse engineers existing automation systems.
Performs routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on automated equipment.
Maintains documentation and reports system performance regularly.
Supports development of automated system solutions including electrical, controls, robotic, pneumatic, and mechanical aspects.
Collaborates with engineers to program PLCs, robots, and vision systems; integrates automation into equipment.
Documents system specifications for design, installation, and testing of new equipment.
Applies engineering principles to diagnose root causes of failures and evaluate performance.
Assists with technical communications and quotations with 3rd party vendors.
