Job summary

Hoffer Plastics in South Elgin, IL is hiring an Automation Technician to repair and maintain all automated machinery and auxiliary equipment, ensuring reliable operation of presses and secondary process systems that produce plastic components used in transportation, food packaging and healthcare. Starting pay ranges from $32.00 to $42.00 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 year technical degree in related field.
• 5 years of PLC programming experience with systems such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
• Experience troubleshooting and improving electrical control, vision systems, PLCs and robotics.
• Mechanical comprehension with pneumatics, hydraulics, and blueprints.
• Read and interpret prints and diagrams; CAD skills (SolidWorks/ProE).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair automated devices for runner removal, part handling, separation or packing.
• Service machinery in the press and assembly departments and auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnose trouble, disassemble, and determine repairs.
• Organize multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Fabricate repair parts and perform welding and sheet metal work as needed.
• Operate lathe, vertical mill, drill press and grinders as required.
• Support safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
