Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking an Automation Technician to support production by monitoring and adjusting equipment, contributing to process improvements, reducing scrap, and maintaining quality standards. The role operates on 1st shift, Monday–Friday, from 7:00 a.m.

to 3:00 p.m., with responsibilities spanning setup, diagnostics, routine inspections, and inter-shift data recording. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 1–2 years of manufacturing experience, and strong troubleshooting, math,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or technical degree with automation emphasis preferred.
  • 1–2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of LOTO practices and machine guarding.
  • Proficient use of hand tools for maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Unjam and restart automated assembly processes.
  • Set up and start up automated production equipment.
  • Maintain production standards as needed.
  • Perform and record routine inspections.
  • Record data for inter-shift communication.
  • Maintain department order and cleanliness.
  • Assist in material handling as necessary.
  • Support modifications and repairs to equipment.
  • Ensure quality of in-process and finished products.

Job Description

The Automation Technician supports production by monitoring, and adjusting equipment, as necessary, displaying efforts towards process improvements to reduce or eliminate scrap, improve productivity, maintain specified quality standards, and add value to the product. This job description lists major areas of responsibility and additional job activities may be added at any time.

1st shift hours: Monday to Friday 7:00a-3:00p

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Unjam and restart automated assembly processes
  • Set-up and start-up automated production equipment
  • Maintain production standards as needed
  • Perform and record routine inspections
  • Record pertinent data for inter-shift communication
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of department
  • May assist in the material handling as necessary
  • Other duties and projects as determined by business needs and production
  • Responsible for sustaining quality standards of in-process and fully-assembled products
  • Maintain Total Productive Maintenance list
  • Assist in modifications and repairs to existing equipment
Education, Skills, and Experience
  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required
  • Associate degree or technical degree with emphasis on automation or related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of previous manufacturing experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of LOTO practices and proper machine guarding
  • Working knowledge of the proper use of hand tools used to repair and maintain automated assembly equipment
  • Proficient communication skills with multiple levels of employees
  • Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of metrology and the use of measuring equipment
  • Successful completion of mechanical aptitude test
