Job summary

Rich Products Corporation, a global food manufacturer based in Illinois, seeks an Automation Technician to inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain processing and packaging equipment in a USDA production setting.

You will set up, test, repair conveyors, bagging systems, case erectors, read electrical schematics, and perform minor PLC/VFD work, with safety programs and shift flexibility; high school diploma and a valid Illinois driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Reading, writing and basic math skills required.
• High school degree, or equivalent.
• Valid Illinois driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, troubleshoot and repair of stacking, bagging, check-weighing, UPC bar coding, case erectors and conveyor equipment.
• Dismantling and re-assembly of equipment for repairs, cleaning, and lubrication.
• Test and repair electrical equipment including motors, starters, relays, and panels.
• Read and interpret electrical control schematics for troubleshooting.
• Provide rapid response when equipment malfunctions; ensure safety and SQF compliance.

Purpose Statement

The Automation Technician Inspects, diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs and maintaining food processing and packaging machines, mechanical/utility equipment, buildings and office facilities in a USDA production environment.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Perform all work as assigned while adhering toestablishedstandards associated with workmanship and safety.

Set-up, troubleshoot and repair of stacking, bagging,check-weighing, UPC bar coding, case erectors and conveyor equipment.

Dismantling and re-assembly of equipment to perform repairs,cleaningand lubrication according to established maintenance schedules.

Testing, troubleshooting and repair of110/230/460 voltelectrical equipmentincluding motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers,conduitand wiring.

Able to read and interpret Electrical Control schematics for trouble shooting purposes.

Minor programming and troubleshooting of VFD’s andPLC’s.

Understands and adheres toestablishedsafety programs (ex/ lock out/tag out, ladder safety, etc.)

Provides rapid response when equipment malfunctions or breaks down.

Ensures the building is maintained in compliance to city and fire regulations.

Fabricates parts andmodifiesequipment asrequired.

Responsible for upholding,followingandmaintainingthe requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Possess good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures,comprehendinstructions, and to communicate effectively with others.

Be self-motivated, a self-starter and self-directed to work without close supervision in a team environment.

Valid IllinoisDriversLicense preferred.

Minimum 5 years of mechanical, electrical,hydraulicand pneumatic experience in a food (USDA or FDA) manufacturing environment.

Available to work any shift, asrequired

Proper and safe use of hand and power tools, and working on machinery.

Reading, writing and basic math skills required.

High school degree, or equivalent.

COMPENSATION

In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.
