Job summary

Axion Recruitment is seeking an Automation Technician for the 3rd shift in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. The role offers $30.00 - $40.00 per hour (DOE) and 6pm - 6am shift hours in a plastic manufacturing environment.

The technician will maintain and troubleshoot injection molding machinery and related equipment, contribute to preventative maintenance, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Prior PLC, wiring, and welding skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, sensors, and vision systems through technical courses or vendor seminars.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated by testing and practical work.
  • Proficiency in machining and fabrication including MIG/TIG welding and basic machine operation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems across production lines.
  • Design and implement basic modifications to resolve machine problems.
  • Dismantle, inspect, and overhaul equipment per preventive maintenance plans.
  • Document repairs and quality checks for traceability.
  • Train others on job duties and safety practices.
  • Perform daily system checks and housekeeping to ensure compliance.

Automation Technician - 3rd Shift

Mukwonago, WI

$30.00 - $40.00 per hour (DOE)

3rd Shift | 2-2-3 | 6pm - 6am

Plastics Manufacturing

We're recruiting for an experienced Automation Technician to join an established Plastics Manufacturer in Mukwonago, WI.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing manufacturing business, maintaining injection molding machinery and auxiliary equipment while supporting production through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems, resolving all problems.
  • Design and implement basic modifications to resolve machine problems.
  • Dismantle, inspect and overhaul equipment, as required by preventive maintenance program and production schedules.
  • Document repair and maintenance activities and quality checks.
  • Participate in new equipment design.
  • Train others on job duties, including outside molders.
  • Perform daily systems checks to verify all quality checks are working properly.
  • Perform required housekeeping, keeping all storage areas organized.
  • Continuously maintain and advance skill level by attending seminars and vendor training, keeping up with current and future automation technologies.
  • Set up new equipment.
  • Build crates for equipment relocation.
  • Do conversions on assembly, lining and closing machines.

What We’re Looking For

  • Acquire and develop, at acceptable rates, an extensive knowledge of electronics, programmable logic controllers, pneumatics, and vision systems through technical college level courses and supplier seminars.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, measured by the STM testing.
  • Acquire and develop proficiency in machining and fabrication, including proficiency in MIG and TIG welding and drill press, lathe, milling machine, and surface grinder operation.
  • Acquire and develop ability to work from mechanical prints and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to work with associates from all levels of the organization.
  • Completion of fork truck training and the ability to operate fork trucks safely.
